Handle doctor blades carefully. Precision edges can be damaged easily.
Install the doctor blades straight and parallel in the blade holder.
Adjust the blade holder so that the blades remain parallel to the cylinders.
Check the contact angle between blade and cylinder. Recommended angles are 50–60° for rotogravure and 20–40° for flexographic printing.
For clean metering, apply the lowest possible pressure to the doctor blade.
Before printing, ensure that the cylinder has no damaged or rough surfaces.
Contamination in the ink may damage blades and cylinders. Filter the ink before printing; we recommend using a magnetic filter.
